Olean High School and the Olean Intermediate Middle School are teamming up with the Olean Sports Boosters Club for a benefit raffle for cancer patient and 10th grader Sophie Laborde. The $1,500 dollar prize package includes a new Yeti Cooler, and $200 gift card from Angees restaurant, and swag items from Studio 4 East, the St. Bonaventure Bookstore, and the Sports Locker. Also in the prize package is a pair of seats to a St. Bonaventure Men’s Basketball game located behind the team bench. Tickets are $40 each, with just 200 available. The drawing takes place Wednesday, October 22, and will be streamed live via Facebook. Cattaraugus County Emergency Services is sponsoring the Heartsaver CPR/AED Course in October and November. Registration: October 20-31 from 3-5:30pm at the former St. Johns School, 921 North Union Street. The cost is $30 per player, due at sign-ups.

4th Grade: Monday, November 3 at 6pm
5th Grade: Monday, November 3 at 7pm
6th Grade: Tuesday, November 4 at 6pm
Practices:
Monday, November 10 through Thursday, November 13: Two practices at 6pm and 7pm

The Market offers a wide variety of locally-produced products, from food to flowers and crafts. The Market offers a credit card terminal, and will accept SNAP EBT Cards. The Olean Farmer’s Market participates in the FreshConnect $2 Check Program, allowing SNAP Benefits users to double their money. The Market only accepts farmers and crafter who produce their own products. The Market will run through November 1, with two special holiday markets at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Allegany County Office for the Aging is seeking volunteers to man their Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program. The program offers free income tax assistance for low to moderate-income Allegany County residents. Volunteer Tax Counselors are trained and certified to help people who are ages 55 and over. The City of Olean Youth Bureau and Recreation Department will begin its 2025/’26 Fall-Winter After School Recreation Program on Wednesday, September 3. The After School Program runs Monday-Friday, from 3-5:30pm, at 921 North Union Street, the former St. John School. The program operates throughout the school year, with healthy snacks provided. Among the activities are Foosball, Ping-Pong, Air Hockey, Board Games, Basketball, Arts & Crafts, and help with homework. All of this is provided free of charge. The City of Olean Youth Bureau and Recreation Department announced the William O. Smith Recreation Center’s Ice Skating Programs are now underway, with daily public skates, and hockey schedules. Public Skating fees are $3 for children and Seniors…$5 for adults and a Family package of $12 for up to four people. Skate Rentals are $4. For a complete schedule, go to: www.cityofolean.org.
