Challenger Learning Center's 4th Annual Golf Scramble

The 4th annual Challenger Learning Center’s Golf Scramble is set to take place Friday, June 21, at Bartlett Country Club.   The Scramble is $125 per person, that includes golf, cart, food and prizes.  The 18-hole event begins with a shotgun start at 10:00am.  A basket raffle and other fundraisers will also be available.

Benefit For Jane Burrows

A benefit for cancer patient Jane Burrows will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, starting at 1:00, at the Eldred Fire Hall on the Windfall Road.  Several fundraisers will be taking place during the event, including a gun raffle, lottery tree and Chinese auction.  Admission is $10, which will include a Rigatoni Dinner.

Franchot Park Wading Pool Opening

The City of Olean Youth Bureau and Recreation Department will open the Franchot Park Wading Pool on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16, from 11am-2pm, and again from 2:30-5:00.  The wading pool will be closed for school parties on Monday and Tuesday, June 17-18, and again Thursday anf Friday, June 20-21.  It will be open to the public on Wednesday, June 19 with two sessions, 11am-2pm, and 2:30-5:00pm.  The Daily Pool Schedule will begin Saturday, June 22nd.  All dates and times are weather permitting.  For more information, call the Youth Bureau and Recreation Office at (716)376-5698.

Bradford American Legion Riders 4th Annual Benefit Ride

American Legion Riders Chapter 108 presents their 4th annual Benefit Motorcycle Ride on Sunday, June 23, benefitting Veteran’s Charities.  Registration takes place from 9-10:30am at the Bradford American Legion Post 108, located at 201 West Washington Street…kickstands up at 11:00.  There’s a dinner for drivers and riders following the ride, with fundraisers during dinner.  Drivers pay $20, and riders pay $15…make sure to bring your helmets!

McKean County Fair Association's "Taste of Fair"

The McKean County Fair Association is hosting a “Taste of Fair” event on Saturday, June 22, from 11am-11pm, and on Sunday, June 23, from 11am-5pm, at the Fairgrounds in Smethport.  Along with the great food, there will be Bingo, and games both days.  A cornhole tournament will take place Saturday at noon, for all ages.  Dan Roche Acoustic will be performing Saturday night, from 6-9pm.

Olean Area Youth Court New Member Training Program

The Olean Area Youth Court is looking for new members.  This year’s sign-up day is Monday, June 24, starting at 3:30pm, at the Youth Court Office in the Olean City Building.

Any Youth who is graduating 8th grade in June, and entering high school in September is eligible to apply.  The training is for 9th and 10th graders from the Olean, Allegany-Limestone, Portville and Hinsdale School Districts.  Required Training Dates are:

Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce Corporate Challenge

Registration for the 14th annual Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce Corporate Challenge is taking place now.  The Challenge is a professionally-timed 5k run through the streets of Downtown Olean, or a 2.1 mile “Fun Walk”, taking place Thursday, June 27.  The event begins at the Jamestown Community College Parking Lot at 6:00pm.

Tri-County Arts Council June Events

The Tri-County Arts Council has a series of classes set to take place in the Month of June at their 110 West State Street Studios at the following dates and times.

Wednesday, June 12:  It’s “Artist’s Creative Corner”-a vibrant community where artists share insights and provide constructive critiques and support.  The event takes place from 6-8pm.

Tuesday, June 25:  Join the floral arrangement class, and unlock your creativity with blooms!  Whether you are a novice or have a green thumb, this class offers hands-on guidance to create stunning floral compositions.  The Class takes place from 6-7pm.

Friday, June 28:  Calling all kids!  Create a fun animal collage…parents are welcome to stay for class.  This is a free class provided by a grant funding from the Olean Rotary Club.  The class takes place from 1-2 pm, and is taught by Amanda Hubert.

Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center's Annual Golf Outing

The Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center holds its 2nd annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 29, at Pine Acres Golf Course in Bradford.  Registration begins at 8am, with a shotgun start at 9…cost is $320 for a team of four, and includes golf, food on the turn and a pulled pork dinner following golf.

Enjoy Allegany Old Home Week festivities Thursday-Saturday, June 27-29…The Carnival is Back!

Thursday, June 27:  The Carnival is open from 6-11pm…there’s water fights starting at 6:30, in front of the Allegany Engine Company, and the music Thursday is from “The Sticktights”, at 7:00.

Friday, June 28:  The Carnival runs from 6pm-midnight.  The traditional Kid’s Parade takes place at 6:00, with the line-up starting at 5:30 in the Post Office Parking Lot.  The Allegany Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team provides a demonstration from 6-8pm, and the music is Brian Ash and Pete Gilroy from 7-10pm.

Saturday, June 29:  The Carnival’s Kids Matinee takes place from 1-5pm,  Kids wristbands will be sold for $25, and they can ride as many rides as they would like.  The Carnival resumes for all from 6pm-midnight.  The Fireman’s Parade starts at 6:30, with registration and line-up beginning at 5:30, across from the Allegany Police Department.  The music for the night is “Animals in a Cage”, starting at 7:30.

Pre-Sale Ride Tickets are $20 for 12 rides.  After the carnival starts, the prices are $30 for 12 rides.  TIckets can be purchased from multiple businesses in Allegany, and from any Allegany firefighter.

2024 Pioneer Oil Days Events

Pioneer Oil Days 2024 offers many family-friendly events, from June 23-30.  The Genesee Valley Antique Tractor Pull takes place Sunday, June 23, at 9:00am…bring your lawn chairs, and enjoy a Chicken BBQ put on by the Trailblazers Snowmobile Club.

The Bolivar Lions Club puts on a euchre tournament on Monday, June 24…registration begins at 5:30, with games at 6.  Snacks and soft drinks provided…registration is $15 per person.

Tuesday, June 25th brings the Lions Club’s Family Fun Night at Shaner Field, featuring many events for young and old alike…all events are FREE

Wednesday, June 26th, take part in the Scavenger Hunt, starting with team registration at 5:45, at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.  There’s also a book-signing by author and Bolivar native Debre Kinnicutt Payne, at the Bolivar Free Library at 5:00, and a kick-off concert by the Genesee Valley Chorus, at the Methodist Church at 7:00.

Thursday, June 27th:  The Richburg-Wirt Museum puts on its annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival, from 4-8pm…The Bolivar Fire Department has kid’s rides from 6-8pm, at the Fire Hall, and “Movie Under the Stars” will take place in the Bolivar Library Parking Lot at 9:00, featuring “Kung Fu Panda 4.  This is a Family-Friendly Event…bring your own seating and snacks…no alcohol will be allowed.

Friday:  The New Pioneer Oil Museum will hold its Wall of Fame inductions at 6:00.  There’s also Wine and Cheese Tasting at the Hahn and Schaffner site, from 6:30-8:00pm.  $20 per person.  There’s a DJ at the Fire Hall from 6-10om, and a fireworks display at 10:00.

Saturday:  Start your day with the Bolivar American Legion Auxiliary Breakfast, from 8-11am…The Pioneer Oil Days Parade starts at 10:00.  The Pioneer Oil Days Car Show begins immediately after the parade on Main Street.  The Fireman’s Chicken BBQ starts at noon…The Pioneer Oil Days annual Duck Race begins at noon at the Main Street Bridge.  The BCS-BRCS Alumni reception takes place at the Bolivar Country Club, from 2-6pm.

Tri-County Arts Council July Events Schedule

July 9-August 13:  Wheel Throwing with Abby Zickefoose…This class meets on Tuesdays, from 6-8pm, at the TCAC studios at 110 West State Street, Olean.  The six-week class provides students with a general understanding of basic beginner level throwing techniques.

July 11-August 1:  Business Plan Development Class for Artists…This exclusive 4-session class takes place from 6-8pm on Thursdays, at the TCAC in Olean.  It is designed for artists who want to transform their talents into successful business ventures.  The August 1st final class will be a Q&A session…this class is recommended for people 18+

July 13:  Block Quilting…this 1-session class allows you to play with colorful fabrics to make creative patchwork blocks, without the need for special tools or rulers.  The class is for beginners and seasoned quilters alike, and will be held from 1-3pm at the TCAS studios

July 16-30:  Silk Screening…This 3-session class takes place Tuesdays from 6-8pm at the TCAC studios.  Artist Rick Minard teaches the art and fun of silkscreen printing.  Learn many different techniques for this easy method of print making…the classes are recommended for ages 14+.

July 20:  FREE Kids Bean Mosaic with Amanda Hubert…Calling all kids ages 7-12!  Create an animal mosaic out of beans.  Parents are welcome to stay for the class, which takes place from 1-2pm at the TCAC studio.  The free class is provided by grant funding from the District 7090 and the Rotary Club of Olean.

Great Valley Fire Company's "Band Jam"

The Great Valley Fire Company presents two days of music at their “Band Jam”, set for Friday and Saturday, July 19-20, at the Fireman’s Club House.  There’s three bands on Friday, from 6-midnight, and 7 bands on Saturday, starting at 1:00pm.  “Band Jam” features on-site food vendors and two camping areas.   The event is open to the public…concert wristbands are $5 for Friday night, and $10 for Saturday…Kids under the age of 12 are free.

Eldred Conservation Club Muzzle Loader Shoots

Olean General Hospital Diabetes Self-Management Workshops

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Olean General Hospital will offer a series of Diabetes Self-Management Educational Seminars in 2024.  The 3-hour sessions will take place on Wednesdays OR Saturdays in odd-numbered months, and are designed as a comprehensive program, addressing the aspects of diabetes self-management.  Most Health Insurance plans will cover all or most of the cost of the program.  For more information, a schedule, and to register, call Erika Zerkowski, at (716)375-6271.
