January - MarchSchool Skating Parties at the William O. Smith Recreation Center

The William O. Smith Recreation Center in Olean is now scheduling School Ice Skating Parties. The available times are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from noon-2pm. The cost is $3 per student, which includes admission and skate rentals. Children are encouraged to bring their own skates if they have them, as skate sizes are limited. March23rd Annual Veteran's Memorial Euchre Tournament

The Enchanted Mountain Lodge #252, Free Masons, and the Hamilton Court #2, Order of the Amaranth present the 23rd annual Veteran’s Memorial Euchre Tournament, set to take place Saturday, March 29, at the Allegany American Legion. Registration begins at 11:00, with play starting at noon. A $20 donation will be accepted at the door. The event also includes a 50/50 draw and a basket auction. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided. If you would like to donate a door prize, or a food item, call Bruce Kenney, at (716)560-5883, or Erik Johnson, at (716) 560-4460. The University of Pittsburgh-Bradford has scheduled a series of monthly smART workshops, a free, hands-on art series for children in Pre-K thru 4th Grade. These workshops will be held on Saturday mornings from 10-11, in Blaisdell Hall on the Pitt-Bradford Campus. Each session is designed in inspire curiosity, encourage self-expression, and bring families closer together. The Workshops are as follows:
January 18: Theatre Workshop…kids will dive into acting, creative movement and improv exercises.
February 8: Story and Craft Adventures…Books come to life, with children creating a unique piece of artwork after reading a book
March 8: Clay Creatures and Stories…It’s a hands-on session that teaches children how to mold air-dry clay.
April 12: Music: this workshop takes kids on a global journey to explore unique instruments from around the world.

The City of Olean Youth and Recreation Department will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 2-9 on Saturday, April 19, starting at 11:00am at War Veteran’s Park. There are prizes in four age groups, and the first 400 children will receive a gift bag compliments of sponsors. The event is co-sponsored by CSEA Local 6202, the Olean Dempsey Club and Police Department, the Olean City Firefighters IAFF Local 1796, the Olean Youth Bureau, Walmart, Burger King and McDonald’s.

AprilOlean High School Sports Boosters 41st Annual Endowment Raffle

The Olean High School Sports Boosters will hold their 41st annual Endowment Raffle on Saturday, April 26, at the Pulaski Club of Olean. Tickets are now available from Sports Boosters Members and at the Sports Boosters Office at the High School. Each ticket allows 4 people to attend the event, with complementary food and drinks. Other fundraisers at the raffle will take place, including a Basket Raffle and a 50/50 drawing. For more information, contact a Sports Boosters member. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase essential equipment for sports teams that the budget cannot cover.

MayCattaraugus County Health Department Free Rabies Clinic

The Cattaraugus County Department will hold a FREE Rabies Vaccination Clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Saturday May 3, from 9-11:30am, at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works Garage in Little Valley. Although the clinic is free, the Health Department will accept donations to cover the cost of putting the clinic on. Please have your animals on a leash or in a carrier at the clinic.
