The City of Olean Youth and Recreation Department will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 2-9 on Saturday, April 19, starting at 11:00am at War Veteran’s Park.  There are prizes in four age groups, and the first 400 children will receive a gift bag compliments of sponsors.  The event is co-sponsored by CSEA Local 6202, the Olean Dempsey Club and Police Department, the Olean City Firefighters IAFF Local 1796, the Olean Youth Bureau, Walmart, Burger King and McDonald’s.

A benefit Spaghetti Dinner for Elizabeth Acevedo and Family will take place Saturday, April 19, from 3-7pm, at the Town of Allegany Complex on Birch Run Road.  Dinners are $10 per person, and will include Spaghetti, Salad and Roll.  Other fundraisers will take place during the dinner, including a basket raffle, 50/50 and a bake sale.  For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact Kat, at (716)378-1535.  Proceeds will be donated to the Acevedo family, to cover medical expenses.

The Allegany American Legion Post 892 will hold its Monthly Breakfast on Easter Sunday, April 20, from 8:30-11:00am.  The Legion will serve up an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast Buffet, featuring all of your breakfast favorites, for $12 per person, with coffee, juice and milk included in the price.

The First Baptist Church of Olean, in cooperation with the Greater Olean Association of Churches, is co-hosting an Easter Dinner on Sunday, April 20, from 11:30-1:30.  The ‘Free Dinner’ is being offered to those in need, or that may be alone this Easter.  Carry out or deliveries will be available from 11:30-1:30…you have a choice of either a ham or a turkey dinner.  You must register to receive the dinner by April 16, by calling (716)372-5151.  Volunteers are needed for planning, preparation, serving, delivery and clean-up…call (716)372-5151 if you can help out.  The First Baptist Church will accept cash and check donations to help cover the expenses involved with the dinner.

The Olean Pulaski Club holds its annual Dyngus Day Celebration, sponsored by the Pulaski Club Ladies Auxiliary, on Monday, April 20, from 5-9pm.  Enjoy Polish food, beverages, raffles and dancing to the Larry Lewicki Band.  Tickets are $35 each, and only 200 will be sold.  Tickets are available by signing up at the bar, or by contacting Laura, at (716)307-5124.

The Olean High School Sports Boosters will hold their 41st annual Endowment Raffle on Saturday, April 26, at the Pulaski Club of Olean.  Tickets are now available from Sports Boosters Members and at the Sports Boosters Office at the High School.  Each ticket allows 4 people to attend the event, with complementary food and drinks.  Other fundraisers at the raffle will take place, including a Basket  Raffle and a 50/50 drawing.  For more information, contact a Sports Boosters member.  Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase essential equipment for sports teams that the budget cannot cover.

The Olean American Legion will be the sight of a fundraiser to help Claire and Garrett with the financial hardships associated with Claire’s ovarian cancer treatments.  The event takes place Saturday, April 26, from 2-9pm, at the Legion on East State Street.

The 4th annual St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Craft and Vendor Show is set to take place Saturday, April 26, from 10-4 at the Allegany American Legion Post 892.  The show includes crafter, vendors, raffle baskets and a gift card raffle.

It’s that time of year!  The Shinglehouse Sons of the American Legion will serve up a Ham and Leek Dinner on Saturday, April 26, from 1-5pm, at the Shinglehouse Legion Post 530, on State Rt. 44-S.

The Allegany American Legion will host the 4th annual Craft and Vendor Show benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Saturday, April 26.  The show will take place from 10-4…in addition to the show, a large basket raffle will take place, with the drawing for those starting at 5:00.  There will also be door prizes and gift raffles.  All proceeds will be donated to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Basket and gift items for the show are still being accepted.

The Hinsdale American Legion will hold a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Thursday, May 1, from 3-7pm, to benefit the archers from Hinsdale Central School who have qualified to compete in the National High School Archery Tournament later in May.  All proceeds from the dinner will go towards traveling expenses for the team members who qualifed.

The Cattaraugus County Department will hold a FREE Rabies Vaccination Clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Saturday May 3, from 9-11:30am, at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works Garage in Little Valley.  Although the clinic is free, the Health Department will accept donations to cover the cost of putting the clinic on.  Please have your animals on a leash or in a carrier at the clinic.  For more information, please call (716)701-3386.

The Olean Youth Bureau and Recreation Department’s 6th Annual Arts and Crafts Show will take place Saturday, May 3, from 11-5, at the William O. The Rushford Volunteer Fire Department will hold a ‘Fly-in’ Breakfast on Saturday, May 10, from 8am-noon, at the Wellsville Municipal Airport.  Volunteers will serve up an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast.  The breakfast is open to the public-flying or driving!

The City of Olean Public Works Department will do a curbside pick-up of Yard Waste on the last Wednesday of the month, beginning April 30, and ending September 24.  There are some requirements:  All yard waste must be in paper bags…plastic bags will not be accepted.  Brush must be bundled with twine or rope…bundles can be no longer than 3 feet long, or 18 inches in diameter…and yard waste must be to the curb by 7am…for questions, or more information, contact the City Department of Public Works, at (716)376-5651.
