As a public service, the Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties Board of Elections has supplied us with some information on this year’s Election Day, November 3rd.

On November 3rd, if you choose to go to the polls to vote on Election Day, the polls will be open from 6:00am-9:00pm in all election districts.  Cattaraugus County Voters who have recently moved from one location in the county to another MUST submit an updated registration form by October 14.  Those forms can be downloaded and printed at the following website:  www.cattco.org/board-elections.  Voters may also register in person at the Board of Elections Office, 207 Rock City Street, Little Valley.  Voter Registration Forms are also available at any local post office, county or state agencies, and from your local city, town or village clerk’s office.  If you are not currently registered, you must register by Friday, October 9, to be eligible to vote on November 3rd.  You can register online in New York State by accessing the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles Website.

To Apply For An Absentee Ballot:  A voter can apply for an absentee ballot if he or she 1) is going to be absent from the county on Election Day 2) Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability.  This includes not wanting to go to the polls in fear of contracting or spreading a communicable disease like COVID-19.  3)  Unable to appear because you are a primary caregiver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled  4)  a resident or patient of a VA Hospital  5) Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action, or confined in prison after a non-felony conviction.  Voters can apply for an absentee ballot electronically at the county board of election website listed above.  You can also apply in  person at the Board of Elections Office.  The deadline to apply is no later than October 27.  If you are mailing in a ballot, it must be postmarked on or before November 3.

Early Voting will begin Saturday, October 24th and go through Sunday, November 1.  The polling locations in Cattaraugus County are at the JCC CUTCO Building in Olean, and the Cattaraugus County Board of Elections Offices in Little Valley.  In Allegany County, early voting will be conducted at The Board of Elections Office, located at 8 Willets Avenue, in Belmont.  The hours vary at all three polling places…check the voting hour schedule on your respective county website.  There will be a special drop box set up for absentee/mail-in ballots at the Allegany County location.
